23-March-22
Performance Students present 'The Government Inspector' - March 23rd & 24th at 7.45pm.

“An envelope changes hands – and the world turns. It’s as natural as air, or eating.”

What happens when a corrupt town council finally get a visit from a high-ranking Inspector? Or so they think.

In a classic story of mistaken identity, watch as the entire town scrambles to please a minor bureaucrat in Roddy Doyle’s adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s classic play ‘The Government Inspector’.

GCC Acting and Theatre Performance students present Roddy Doyle’s farcical comedy for the first time since it's initial run in the Abbey Theatre in 2011.

As part of their Level 5 course, Galway Community College of Further Education Acting and Theatre Performance students produce a mainstage play to round out their academic year. They take over all roles from Costume to Stage Management to Promotion etc and learn what it is, in essence, to take a show from conception through to closing night. They have been relentlessly rehearsing and working behind the scenes to present this high-caper comedy that will strongly resonate with Irish audiences.

NUIG alumni Megan J Larsen and Oisín Feely have generously collaborated with the students on Set and Lighting Design respectively.

The show will take place in a newly-transformed GCC Auditorium, in the round.

Show times are 7.45pm Wednesday March 23rd and 7.45pm Thursday March 24th.

Tickets are €5 (CASH ONLY) at the door and bookings can be reserved on
